Job Requirements:

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Hassakah, Northeast Syria with travel to field offices within Syria.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience working with NGOs and/or international organizations.
  • Required fluent spoken and written English and Arabic. Kurdish (Kurmanji) is a plus.
  • Experience in humanitarian coordination and/or liaison including with local authorities (preferred)
  • Academic background at B.A. level, preferably in social science, political science, or related field (preferred)

Personal attributes

  • Interest in and familiar with the children and armed conflict mandate – experience/ knowledge of child protection and multi-sectoral programs a plus.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and easily adapt in an environment where change or revision to projects and planning is regular.

Job Description:

Technical Quality and Implementation

  • Support CAAFAG Coordinator in ensuring effective coordination among humanitarian agencies engaged in CAAFAG activities.
  • With the guidance of the CAAFAG Coordinator, engage in close collaboration with the Protection Sector and other relevant sectors (e.g. Education, Cash, Food Security, Livelihood, MHPSS etc.), to ensure the inclusion of CAAFAG standards and related activities across sectors.
  • Liaise and closely collaborate with local authorities to support and monitor interventions and policy making in support of child protection.
  • Assist CAAFAG Coordinator in preparing and providing training, capacity building and awareness raising sessions to NES humanitarian actors, stakeholders and relevant focal points related to CAAFAG protection interventions.
  • Maintain a database for released children respecting data protection protocol, and global standards.

Act as a focal point for Case Management system related to reintegration.

Management and Reporting

  • Act as alternate to the CAAFAG Coordinator in various coordination meetings and in support to partner humanitarian agencies in the absence of the CAAFAG Coordinator.
  • Help organize, facilitate, participate as well as assist in note taking during meetings, as well as possibly assist with regular translation from/to English, Arabic and Kurdish.
  • Compile and analyze data from own, sectorial and partners assessments in order to identify gaps and opportunities and advise on possible new areas of intervention. Ensure all data gathered is stored securely and digitally.
  • Assist with the preparation of fundraising proposals and donor reporting, as well as support the overall management of child protection and other sector partnerships;
