Job Requirements:

The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work.
  • The radio operators are expected to monitor VHF and HF radios from the start to end of daily

              operations.

  • Radio Operators will be expected to exercise a great deal of common sense and initiative.
  • Secondery school educated and has good command of computers.
  • Fluency in English language writing, reading and speaking.

All MAG staff are expected to demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform appropriate tasks when the need arises.

Job Description:

The RO works alongside the Securiy and Access Officer and reports to the Country Security Manager.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Carry out radio duty on a shift system.
  • Record all incoming and outgoing messages.
  • Relay and record messages as and when necessary; conduct radio checks as required
  • Monitor local news programmes and brief the Security & Access Officer on news reports of interest.
  • Monitor movements of MAG personnel.
  • Ensure all radio equipment is maintained including subscriptions and recharging hand set batteries on a daily basis.
  • Keep a record of all MAG call signs and GPS tracker numbers.
  • Carry out light administrative duties (including photocopying & translation) as required.
  • Be able to manage radio messages and comms in an emergency.
  • Be able to report incidents effectively using 4W mechanism (What, where, when, who

General Responsibilities

  • Contribute to other fundraising initiatives where appropriate.
  • Participate in meetings where relevant.

  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required.
