Job Requirements:

The position requires an institute diploma or higher studies, bachelor degree (preferable), with previous experience with NGOs and humanitarian agencies or any other community-level work. The position requires a strong understanding of security issues, threats, risks, and the vulnerabilities of humanitarian staff. The incumbent should have experience in media monitoring and liaison (including social media). The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding liaison and training competencies. The holder of the position should be able to interact effectively and sensitively with international and national personnel, as well as with project partners, local authorities, and any other community stakeholders and key figures and community members. The person should be computer literate with strong MS-Excel and MS Word skills as well as good spoken and written English, Arabic, and Kurdish. 

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Safety & Security Coordinator, and in close coordination with the Safety and Security Officer, the Safety & Security Assistant will be responsible to assist the organization’s program in reducing the risks towards organization’s staff, volunteers as well as assets and ensure the systematic application of safety and security management systems, policies and procedures in all areas of operations in NES. The person will carry out field visits to organization’s program sites and offices in NES to assess the needs of the program teams in the field, based on the nature of the program and the context. Facilitating focus groups with organization’s staff and participants will be a key task of this role. Ability to identify and liaise with the local contacts and work in the team given the fluid security condition.
