Job Requirements:

Generic professional competencies: • Minimum Bachelor Degree. • Previous experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context, preferably as a project officer. • Previous experience from working in a complex and volatile context • Previous relevant experience of 2 to 3 years from working in education for children and/or youth (planning, implementing/overseeing the implementation and reporting education activities/projects) • Experience in coordinating and managing teams. • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: • Minimum Bachelor Degree, preferably in education, social work, or any related field • Experience in designing/adapting learning/recreational/PSS materials/programmes for activities with children and youth. • Teaching experience in schools or in delivering trainings and/or mentoring/ coaching teachers/education personnel (minimum 3 years) • Knowledge in pedagogy, didactic, child development and evaluation of learning • Experience in dealing with public stakeholders within the Edu system • Context knowledge

Job Description:

Specific responsibilities • Responsible for ensuring that all necessary materials are timely available for the assigned activities (such as, but not limited to): training need assessments, design of training curricula and follow up/evaluation tools; materials for awareness sessions and activities with parents and children.), and organizing and facilitating trainings/trainings of trainers/ workshops. • Responsible for preparing the plans (resources, budget, activities, time, targets per location), together with the team coordinated, and under the Project Coordinator supervision, for the implementation of the “Creating Welcoming Schools” Programme in the assigned schools, as per ORG education strategy and standards. He/she is responsible, together with the managed team for achieving the targets set for the assigned schools and for timely flagging potential risks and identifying solutions. • Manage the implementation of the education programme in the assigned schools. • Contribute to the assessment and selection of schools for the participation in the programme. • Contribute to the development of the school (/community) entry strategy, and is responsible for the identification of key resources for the implementation/facilitation of the children education programme in schools the supported communities. Establishes and maintains effective collaborative relationships with the school representatives and local communities. • Ensure the monitoring, quality check, and evaluation of all education activities for children in the schools under her/his supervision – including contributions to the design of monitoring and evaluation methodology and tools, data collection, spot visits, data analysis, and writing of regular activity implementation/monitoring/evaluation reports. • Contribute to building synergies with other components of the education programme (transition education programmes) and other core competencies – in particular with the ICLA (for awareness sessions, etc.) and Shelter (for school rehabilitation) teams, etc. Constantly liaises with relevant departments, as per need. • Responsible for confirming suitable safety conditions with the relevant ORG departments and colleagues prior to any activity conducted by the managed team in the field. • Ensure that the education sites are safe and secure for students • Responsible for the preparation of all administrative, logistical, and financial arrangements and documentation for the “Creating Welcoming Schools” programme in the schools assigned as per ORG standards. • Coordinates at all times with all other Education Officers responsible for the implementation of the “Creating Welcoming Schools” Programme, to ensure a unitary approach. • Participate in the development of communication materials (ex.: newsletters / Success Stories/ Briefing Notes)

  • May be requested to provide inputs for the design of annual plans or grant proposals and reports in relation to the same programme. • Contribute to need assessments, area profiling, and initial assessments in current or new operation areas (including the design of assessment tools, data collection, analysis and report writing, as per need) and informs decisions on area/community selection, programme response and approach, based on own capacity and knowledge. • Ensure that ORG assets and educational materials are kept securely and the inventory is up to date • Perform any other task as assigned by ORG management.
