Previous NGO experience is a strong asset

FUNCTIONS
Functions
- Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the WASH senior Engineer, the WaSH officer’s responsibilities include:
General responsibilities:
o Work under the supervision of the WaSH Engineer in the design and implementation of hygiene promotion activities related to WaSH
o Support the team and take the lead in Hygiene Promotion-related issues in the projects
o Support the liaison officer to improve the relationship with local authorities and communities
o Participate to and support technical assessments
o Report on the work, the advancement of the activities and the possible difficulties
o Manage an HP team and represent the NGOs with the local authorities
o
Technical Tasks:
o Support the implementation of WaSH activities, especially in the Hygiene Promotion aspects of the projects
o Has a clear understanding of WaSH methodologies regarding activities such as rehabilitation of water networks, water towers, irrigation canals, water trucking, etc., to achieve project objectives.
o Participate in assessment missions
o Participate in the writing of Bills of Quantities (BoQ) of hygiene kits, HP-related brochures and documentation
o Prepare and follow-up documentation of diverse WaSH Activities
o Participate in identifying best practices and lessons learned
Reporting:
o Collect photos, documents and information of program implementation and ensure that donor visibility is respected
o Assist in the identification and location of beneficiaries when requested
o Submit activity reports
o Plan ahead difficulties and participate in finding efficient solutions
Administration and Other Tasks:
o Maintain an efficient, organized system of paperwork and reporting for field work
o Ensure timely departure and return from the field: this includes leaving to the field with all necessary documents and materials to complete a successful workday
o To perform other duties as requested by the project and country management team
o Respect and follow ACTED’s code of conduct
Reporting to: WASH senior Engineer
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length:6 months/Renewable
ASSIGNMENT
Under the supervision of ACTED staff, the HP Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of all Hygiene Promotion interventions either undertaken by ACTED or sub-contracted, while making sure that it is matching with ACTED’s quality criteria and strategy.
He/She will be joining a motivated, supporting and skilled WaSH team in expansion, currently supervising diverse and interesting projects in Hassake and Deir-Ez-Zor governorate..
