QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree (Water Engineering, Civil Engineer or similar)
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Previous NGO experience is necessary
- Previous experience working with following contractors on a WaSH-related project
- Demonstrated knowledge and know-how in BoQ production
- Demonstrated know-how on production of technical assessment
- Experience in team management
- Experience in activity reporting
- Excellent organizational skills and accuracy
- Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrates high level of interpersonal skills and patience
- Ability to work independently and to show initiative
- Ability to assess projects difficulties
- Ability to plan ahead, foresee, report and prevent project difficulties
- Ability to take part in needs-assessment missions
- Shows flexible and creative approach to the work and shows ability to express new ideas
- Organized and flexible, ability to respond to changing priorities
- Punctual, dedicated, motivated and serious
- Fluency in Arabic, and good English language skills preferred (spoken and written)
- Impartiality, objectivity and confidentiality
- Ability to travel locally and regionally, if necessary

Job Description:
ASSIGNMENT:
Under the supervision of organization staff (WaSH Manager and Senior WaSH Engineer), the WaSH Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation of all technical interventions either undertaken by ORGANIZATION or sub-contracted, while making sure that it is matching with organization’s quality criteria and strategy.
He /She will be joining a motivated, supporting and skilled WaSH team in expansion, currently supervising diverse and interesting projects in Hassake and Deir-Ez-Zor governorate.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the WaSH Project Manager and Senior WaSH Engineer, the WaSH Engineer’s responsibilities include:
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Support of the implementation of projects in Washokani camp.
o Follow and evaluate the work of contractors
o Support the different WaSH departments
o Lead BoQ production
o Report on the work, the advancement of the activities and the possible difficulties
o Manage the team and represent the NGOs with the local authorities
- TECHNICAL TASKS:
o Support the implementation of WaSH activities
o Has a clear understanding of WaSH methodologies regarding activities such as water trucking, installation of water tanks, latrines construction, sanitation, waste management, etc., to achieve project objectives.
o Participate / lead in assessment missions
o Participate / lead in the writing of Bills of Quantities (BoQ)
o Participate in identifying best practices and lessons learned
- REPORTING:
o Collect photos, documents and information of program implementation and ensure that donor visibility is respected
o Assist in the identification and location of beneficiaries when requested
o Submit activity reports
o Plan ahead difficulties and participate in finding efficient solutions
- ADMINISTRATION AND OTHER TASKS:
o Maintain an efficient, organized system of paperwork and reporting for field work
o Ensure timely departure and return from the field: this includes leaving to the field with all necessary documents and materials to complete a successful workday
o To perform other duties as requested by the project and country management team
o Respect and follow organization’s code of conduct
