Job Requirements:         

  • Degree in: Education degree with in Counselling, Psychology, and Counselling Psychology with 3+ years’ experience working on MHPSS programs, preferably in humanitarian settings.
  • Training and supervision experience required.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within different cultural environment.
  • Experience of developing training tools
  • Experience and skills in training MHPSS/ Medical professionals and non-professionals
  • Ability to work in difficult environment under very basic living conditions.
  • Ability to work within a team structure or in remote, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
  • Trained on Psychological First Aid, PM+, familiar with PM+, mhGAP manual (various versions) and community based MH training material as well as previous training experience to multicultural groups;
  • Experience in mental health and protection work with displaced persons, refugees, returnees and vulnerable host communities.
  • Acquired knowledge of the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, and IASC Guidelines.
  • Good command of English and Arabic (speaking & writing).
  • Excellent command of the use of Microsoft Office especially Outlook, Work, Excel and Power Point.
  • Good communication, teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
  • Previous NGO experience in a crisis setting.
  • Team player with high ability to work under pressure in a multi-cultural environment.

Job Description:

  • The MHPSS trainer will work closely with the MHPSS Manager and support by technical supervisor to assess, plan, organize, and provide training for MHPSS and partners at the field and office levels. The position is based in Derik office with frequent travel to other governorates and field sites. The following are the duties/responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize and provide training based on global guidelines (such as Detection and referral, PFA, Case management, Basic Counselling skills, PM+ Etc.) and adapted to the local context and needs.
  • Prepare all training reports and liaise with MEAl and in charge of DHIS for upload of data and needed inputs during proposal development.

o 3. Work closely with officer in raising PRs for training and effectively deliver training in consideration of logistics and security guidelines.

  • Provide training on mental health promotion, advocacy, psychosocial interventions and community outreach for MRFS MHPSS staffs.
  • Provide ongoing on the job supervision and mentoring to trained staff as well as group and individual supervision.
  • Ensure completion and analysis of pre/ post knowledge tests and on the job supervision checklists.
  • Facilitate multi-disciplinary team meetings and case discussion among more specialized and general.
  • Support the integration of mental health at the health facility level by utilizing MRFS MH PHC checklist and standards, providing feedback to facilities and MRFS management and supporting sustainable and measurable systems-level integration.
  • Liaise with MRFS staff and identify training gaps with action plans in submission to supervisor.
  • Work within the framework of the IASC guidelines for mental health and psychosocial support in emergency settings and Sphere standards as well as WHO MH guidelines.
  • Represent MRFS as requested and work collaboratively and in coordination with other agencies, local NGOs in capacity building related activities.

Coordination and networking

  • Strengthen and maintain Quality training with MRFS and partners ensuring sustainability of skills application.
  • Strengthen and maintain networks through other service providers and to ensure that the community and partners on area of training have greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners (protection, health, and psychosocial sectors).
  • Organize and deliver community awareness raising events Work in collaboration with MHPSS Technical Supervisor to ensure ongoing needs of clients are being met through implementation activities.

Others

  • Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Respect the code of conduct and policies of the MRFS and the standards of the MHPSS team
  • Adhere and uphold the MRFS principle and policies (integrity, accountability and service) at the respective areas of work. Participate in review meetings and psychosocial capacity assessment of the response community workers
  • Participate in capacity building trainings for the staff
  • Update the focal persons of the referral networks between partners implementing MHPSS and implementation of its rationale
  • Assist the MHPSS program manager on compiling reports.
  • Respect the code of conduct and policies of the MRFS and the standards of the MHPSS team
  • Adhere and uphold the MRFS principle and policies (integrity, accountability and service) at the respective areas of work. Any other tasks or duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
