Job Title: Livelihood Project Officer

Job Requirements:
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Economics, business management, finance, or other relevant fields;
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with International NGOs;
- Previous experience in the Implementation of Livelihood projects;
- Deep knowledge of the local context and territory in Raqqa Governorate, including the knowledge of the local market, main market actors, cooperatives and local associations, local authorities, etc.;
- Proficiency in the use of Excel, word, Power Point and other basic IT skills (emails, data entry, use of clouds, etc.);
- Previous experience in preparing reports, and using spreadsheets to enter and analyze data;
- Proactive attitude, capacity to organize his/her work autonomously and prioritize tasks, and to work with other members of the team;
- Good communication skills and capacity to create positive and trustful relations with other counterparts (local cooperatives, project’s beneficiaries, other local actors, etc.);
- Excellent oral and written English;
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of business management and/or marketing;
- Previous experience in projects aiming at the support of local businesses or cooperatives, or at the support of the creation of new small businesses through small grants;
- Previous experience in the implementation on the field of market assessments (interviews, questionnaires, Focus Group Discussions, etc.);
- Previous experience in the implementation of training on business management, marketing, business plan’s elaboration etc., or certified trainer’s certificate.
- Fluency in Kurdish.

Job Description:
List of tasks assigned:
Activities implementation
- Support the Livelihood Coordinator and the Livelihood Specialist in the implementation of market assessments. This will include:
- a) Support the elaboration of tools for the assessment, including the translation of them from English to Arabic/Kurdish;
- b) Support the organization of meetings, Focus Group Discussions, field visits, and implement some of these meetings autonomously;
- c) Support the implementation of interviews with key stakeholders (women cooperatives’ members, local authorities, cooperatives’ unions, traders, etc.);
- d) Support the collection of data through surveys and interviews, as well as the elaboration of data and the drawing of results.
- Maintain relations with the main stakeholders of the project, including target cooperatives, local authorities, cooperatives groups, etc.
- Support the process of selection of cooperatives (collection of data through questionnaires, elaboration of data, etc.);
- Support the organization of trainings to cooperatives (workplan, logistic, attendances, etc.);
- In some cases, take an active role in the direct implementation of training activities after receiving adequate ToT from the Livelihood Specialist;
- Support the establishment of a mechanism for the distribution of grants;
- Follow up regularly with the cooperatives in order to offer, under the guidance of the Livelihood Specialist, ad hoc mentorship for each cooperative through regular field visits;
- Monitor and document through field visits, photos and reports the correct use of the grants;
- Support the Livelihood Coordinator and the Livelihood Specialist in the relations with local counterparts;
- Support the Livelihood Specialist in the evaluation of the business plans presented by the TVET graduates. Under the guidance of the Livelihood Specialist, support the graduates in the improvement and fine tuning of their business plan;
- Support the process of distribution of small grants to TVET graduates (double check amount request with market’s prices, preparation of distribution tools, etc.) and monitor regularly after the distribution in order to ensure the grants are spent properly (collection of invoices, field visits, checklists, etc.)
- Under the supervision of the Livelihood Specialist, support the TVET graduates with regular business mentorship;
- In some cases, take an active role in the direct implementation of training activities after receiving adequate ToT from the Livelihood Specialist.
Reporting
- Write monthly internal progress reports in order to keep track of the activities implemented and of the project’s progress against the project indicators.
- If needed, support the preparation of reports for the donor.
Project development
- Carrying out needs assessments through field visits, researches, meetings, questionnaires, etc. in order to study the livelihood needs present on the territory, and the feasibility of new projects;
- Support the elaboration of new project ideas;
- Support the elaboration of project proposals and the acquisition of the needed documents and information from local partners (support letters, project or beneficiaries’ information, etc.).
