Job Title: Program Assistant – Education

 

Location:  Hori Center (Tall Marouf)

  • Program Implementation:
  • The Education Assistant will lead/support the implementation of education activities in Houry Center. This will include but not be limited to conducting Risk Assessments, Awareness Sessions, Training of Education facilitators, classroom observation. Etc.
  • The Education Assistant will participate in monthly technical training, reflection, and coaching sessions with the Education Coordinator, specialist, and TA, to learn new initiatives to improve their knowledge and skills and share feedback and best practices.
  • Support in organizing and facilitating TLC meetings.
  • Prepare procurement and administrative documents required for program implementation.
  • Participate in the needs assessment.
  • Collect and compile project data based on the standard formats and submit weekly reports capturing achievements.
  • Participate in team reviews of results and program progress and/or project evaluation when and as requested.
  • Share program lessons learned internally with other sectors/departments.
  • Ensure that all planned activities are implemented on time, to quality measures, and within budget as per the work plans. Where challenges arise, ensure that these are flagged early, and communicated to the Education Coordinator and specialist.
  • Share weekly and monthly reports.

  • Human resource management
  • Responsible for line management of TLS and/or ECCD Supervisors; including renewing their contract, checking/signing the timesheets, etc.
  • Follow up on staff attendance, leave, and coverage during leave for the staff under her/his supervision, in consultation with the technical line manager.
  • Ensure regular feedback to the staff under her/his responsibility and appraisal process when needed.
  • Support disciplinary measures application if needed.

  • Coordination and representation
  • Coordinate with other sectors and departments as necessary.
  • Represent organization in internal or external visits and calls where needed.

  • Other
  • Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of child protection and child safeguarding at all times, including respect for confidentiality and always acting in the best interests of the child.
  • Comply with policies and practices with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • In agreement with the line manager, perform other required duties within reason (in line with skills and experience).

 

 

 

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

 

Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education or any other relevant field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an NGO, related to education, Experience working in Formal Camp or Detention Centers is desirable.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Proven experience in capacity building, coordinating activities, developing plans, and drafting reports.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children in the school and community.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, and capacity to maintain relations with community leaders, community member members, children, and youth.
  • Strong understanding of the situation of children (girls and boys) in rural and urban communities and camps
  • Excellent understanding of the complexity of local governance structures in NE Syria and other local stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities, and willingness to change work practices and hours and spend time in the field, sometimes in difficult conditions and with limited resources.
  • Strong Kurdish/Arabic skills, written and spoken. Good English skills, written and spoken are desirable.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, including Outlook for email).
