Bachelor’s degree in social work, international relations, human rights, or a related field.

At least 3-5 years of experience in protection programming, including experience in mainstreaming protection considerations in humanitarian programs.

Experience in managing referrals to appropriate services.

Experience in promoting social cohesion and working with communities.

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong understanding of international protection standards and best practices.

Knowledge of the humanitarian context and the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of self-motivation and initiative.

Community mobilization skills

Experience in data analysis

Advanced expertise in Microsoft software applications.

Job Description:

The Senior Protection and Social Cohesion Officer, under the direct supervision of the Protection Team Leader, will lead and implement protection and social cohesion program strategies, focusing on child safeguarding, youth and adolescent protection, persons with specific needs, and community social cohesion in line with CVT strategies. The officer will ensure that protection concerns are integrated into all aspects of CVT’s programs and activities. This role will also manage referrals to appropriate services and support social cohesion activities within the community. The officer will work closely with community organizations, government agencies, and civil society groups to design and execute strategies that promote inclusivity and social cohesion. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential for this role. The officer will report directly to the Protection Team Leader and work in collaboration with the Education and Protection Program Manager.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL REPORTING LINES

The Senior Protection and Social Cohesion Officer reports directly to the Protection Team Leader. They also collaborate with the Education and Protection Program Manager. Additionally, the Sr- officer will work closely with community organizations, government bodies, and civil society groups to foster social cohesion.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Protection Mainstreaming and Strategy Development

  • Lead the integration of CVT’s Protection Mainstreaming Strategy, ensuring adherence to protection standards across all departments.
  • Develop a strategic vision for protection mainstreaming, supporting field offices in conducting annual protection audits, needs assessments, work plans, and monitoring and evaluation.

Technical Support and Guidance

  • Provide technical support to field-based Protection and Program staff, facilitating their ability to integrate protection and cross-cutting issues into their programs and services.
  • Assist in developing guidance and tools for addressing individual protection cases through case management and referral systems.

Social Cohesion Activities and Initiatives

  • Engage communities to establish and promote protection and social cohesion initiatives.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders for enhancing social cohesion, focusing on dialogue, trust-building, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate community-based activities promoting understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of social cohesion initiatives to enhance program implementation.

Team Management

  • Contribute to team planning and manage a team of national project staff.
  • Supervise the protection officer on CVT’s referral mechanism.
  • Assess training needs within the program team and contribute to capacity building planning.

Programme Development and Reporting

  • Support the development and implementation of Protection tools and data collection.
  • Assist the Protection Team Leader with context-specific inputs for project proposals.
  • Compile and prepare high-quality narrative reports on activities, challenges, and best practices.
  • Draft Protection reports and documents, and provide feedback on narrative reports.
  • Assist with donor reporting and ensure timely archiving of documents.
