- Skills and Abilities: Fluency in English and Arabic required;
- Prior experience providing translation services and/or facilitating in person translation in similar trainings;
- Education in linguistics or related field and/or evidence of training in interpretation techniques is an asset.
- Works well within a team and are detail oriented, patient, professional, and reliable;
- Has integrity, compassion, and a positive attitude;
- Good communicator, especially when dealing with sensitive and difficult topics;
- Previous experience and knowledge in child protection core concepts and terminology.
Job Description:
Background of the project
The Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups (CAAFAG) Task Force was established in 2019 to support the implementation of the UN Action Plan signed by the SDF to facilitate the release and reintegration of CAAFAG. It is comprised of 15 member organizations facilitating activities to support this process.
Part of the mandate of the CAAFAG Task Force is to ensure its members have the right knowledge and skills to support appropriately children associated with armed forces and groups. For this purpose, the TF identified that it would be beneficial to local actors to receive a training on the “Growing Stronger Together” curriculum for caregivers, developed by the IRC in coordination with the CP Alliance and the Global CAFAAG TF, to ensure children, adolescents and their parents receive the appropriate support to address the drivers of recruitment and promote reintegration at home and in the community.
Scope of work
- With guidance and support from the lead facilitator, the translator will become familiar with the “Growing Stronger Together” program training materials, including any relevant words and concepts.
- The facilitator will provide real-time, in-person translation throughout the 2 week training sessions and will support the lead-facilitator and participants to express concepts and ideas during group work, plenaries and exercises.
Deliverables
- 1 day induction and work with the lead-facilitator to familiarize with training materials and concepts
- 10 days translation real time, in-person translation
