Skills and Qualifications:

  • Considerable practical experience in managing security in complex contexts and high-risk environments.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of working in the safety and security sector.
  • extensive experience as an NGO security officer or with a Private Security Company.
  • Previous experience working in an international non-governmental organization is preferred.
  • Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and analyze data and translate it into effective information.

Job Description:

Job Description

  • Familiarize him/herself with organizational procedures, SoP’s and contingency measures
  • Protect organization’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Comprehend, review, analyze on security matters related to his/her geographical areas
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and executing safe field visits for staff to implementation sites
  • Review and analyze security developments, CP’s and routes undertaken by mobile teams
  • Perform security assessments, both routine and those required to ensure that it is safe for UPP staff to enter/return to a location/duty station.
  • Instill the importance of security measures in colleagues daily working hours
  • Report any suspicious incidents and utilize incident reports using SIR’s
  • Keep abreast of all UPP operations in Syria, review procedures and policies, suggest corrective action and or recommendations on security, safety and evacuation plans for staff when requested
  • Coordinate with other security organizations (Department of Safety and Security -) and military/government counterparts, as required
  • Collaborate with local authorities (police, military, political and humanitarian) in order to have actual field based evidential reports on the ground
  • Ensure UPP-NES communications are integrated into the appropriate UPP security communication system and all staff are trained in security and emergency procedures, (satellite phones, Garmin, GPS coordinates) in collaboration with relevant authorities and personnel.
  • Analyze security situation and report periodically to the Security Manger and HoM
  • Supervise staff, as required.

Tasks: (Daily and Monthly Responsibilities)

  • Patrol regularly the building parameters, reassess locks, gates, fences etc
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates (Point of entry and exit)
  • Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigation.
  • Ensure all COVID SoP’s are implemented and adhered too
  • Coordinate the access of staff to GH’s and offices
  • Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel, and visitors to the premises
  • Protect UPP’s assets in relation to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues
  • Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to colleagues with continuous coordination and communication with Security Manager and HoM
  • Review, track and monitor movement times and locations for field visits and GH movements daily
  • In collaboration with Security Manager and HoM partake in trainings to increase UPP Staff security awareness
  • Organize convoy security procedures and medical evacuations
  • Organize and manage UPP guards/watchmen
  • Conduct security site assessment for new locations
  • Provide monthly security reports for covered areas (Raqqah/DeZ)
  • Cooperate with Log department checking and proofing security equipment’s and their efficiency
  • Ensure the security and safety of new locations and convoy the Staff for first time to the location
  • Following and issuing Badges for the staff and checking their Expiry dates regularly
  • In coordination with local networks and special sources providing the accurate maps and secure roads to use
