Post Description:

The IT Assistant works under the direct supervision of the IT Officer. The primary responsibility of the IT Assistant is to provide essential IT support, assistance with capacity building, and overall maintenance of the IT services to support CVT activities in Northern Syria. This role ensures that all IT processes align with CVT and donor guidelines and procedures.

  1. General Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of the installation, operation, and maintenance of IT equipment, services, and communication equipment used by CVT Northern Syria.
  • Respond to IT support requests from Northern Syria staff, troubleshooting issues, and providing timely solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain printers and their cartridges in all Northern Syria offices.
  • Provide IT technical support to CVT Northern Syria staff.
  • Ensure the confidential handling of sensitive information in compliance with international data protection standards.
  • Ensure that all applications e.g. anti-virus within the organization is updated on a timely basis.

  1. User Support:
  • Provide help desk and technical support to the users.
  • Sets up new user accounts and help users maintain active profiles within IT-managed systems in Northern Syria offices.

  1. IT and Power Supply Maintenance:
  • Carry software installations and support day-to-day systems operations.
  • Regularly check and monitor electrical installations and power supply to support CVT Northern Syria field offices.
  • Performing preventive maintenance service on the IT equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Perform general repairs on IT equipment and peripherals as instructed.

  1. Communication with Program/Support Departments:
  • Ensure that internet invoices are received on time and forwarded to finance for payment
  • Educate CVT Northern Syria staff on IT support and procurement request procedures.

  1. Planning and Reporting:
  • Assist in building the IT skills of CVT Northern Syria staff at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Assist with documentation of IT inventory; work closely with the IT Officer and procurement team to monitor distribution and location of IT equipment by performing a yearly inventory check-up.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic.
  • Good English skills will be advantage.
  • Proficient at using Microsoft office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience in organizing and filing information is required.
  • High negotiation ability and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of IT best practices and data protection standards.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow up on tasks to completion.
