Job Description

Position: Food Security Outreach assistant 

Duty station: Raqqa.

Line Manager: FS Program Officer for Nutrition.

 

General Post Description

The food security outreach assistant will support the food security program officer for nutrition in delivering nutritional interventions to vulnerable populations affected by the crisis.

The food security outreach assistant will work closely with the community, local authorities, and other humanitarian actors to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the project.

Functional and hierarchical reporting lines

The FS program outreach will report to the FS program Officer for Nutrition and FS TL, and she/he will coordinate and collaborate with MEAL, log, and Access teams to facilitate the implementation of FS Nutrition project activities/interventions.

Principal responsibilities AND TASKS:

  1. Project Requirements:
    1. Support the identification of beneficiaries and suitable sites/locations, design, and implementation of food security and nutrition program activities.
    2. Fills all necessary (technical) monitoring tools as a basis for corresponding documentation (regular field reporting), and collecting needed data for the good implementation of project activities (need assessment, registration, referral forms, awareness sessions attendance sheets, …)
    3. Lead the nutrition awareness sessions and supervised the activities of conducting group counseling.
    4. Food security Outreach assistant will be under the supervision of the program officer for nutrition and will be responsible for Daily rate facilitators’ duties under nutrition activities in NES.
    5. Ensure that a weekly schedule of activities is drafted with the PO for Nutrition, including individual sessions, groups sessions, outreach in the community,
    6. Participating in implementing training programs on nutrition-specific topics with the incorporation of diversified teaching methods including household training, practical demonstrations, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
    7. Collaborate with other team members in developing training materials.
    8. Identify the training needs through door-to-door monitoring and assessments.
    9. Participate and coordinate in conducting needs assessments and other surveys.
    10. Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program impact.
    11. Provide the Program officer / Team leader with the information required for periodic reporting on activities.
    12. Informing the program officer/team leader about any challenges, difficulties, and concerns in the implementation of activities or issues in the social context.
    13. Follow up on adherence to basic protection standards during activities.
    14. Monitor community activities to ensure implementation is according to plan.
    15. Support on collecting, checking, and archiving related documents to nutrition awareness (beneficiary’s attendance sheets, or any other related docs).
    16. Provide inputs for all nutrition awareness trackers on a weekly basis.
    17. Provide program officer with daily and weekly inputs for reporting on awareness activities.
    18. Draft monthly report inputs and share them with the LM to review.

  • Other tasks assigned by the employee’s Line Manager corresponding to the actual needs of the Country Programme, and projects.
  • Substitute relevant colleagues (fully or partially) during their absence when assigned by the employee’s Line Manager.
  • Understand and adhere to the mission’s National Staff Handbook, CVT Code of Conduct, CVT Key Policies, and relevant guidelines.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills:

 

  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic
  • Good English skills will be advantage.
  • Should have good communication skills and the ability to send awareness messages, and train teams in the Nutrition aspects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any medical studies in the field of nutrition, Pharmacy, nutrition technology, food engineering, or nutrition is preferred, or any other related field.
  • Experience working in an NGO and 1-2 years of work experience, At least 6 months of previous experience in field of food assistance / risks education / promotion and awareness activities.
  • Should have good experience in humanitarian work and emergency response.
  • Communication/Cooperation skills.
