(01 Position -Hassakah base)

 Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills:

 

  • Bachelor degree or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience in working with NGOs.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication in English and Arabic (written test will be part of the recruitment process).
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Previous experience in external representation in international and/or other relevant coordination fora is considered highly desirable.
  • Experience in provision of training to various stakeholders.
  • Experience in coordination between various different organizations and entities.
  • Proven knowledge of humanitarian principles and relevant international norms.
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative.
  • Demonstrates excellent coordination skills in order to work between multiple teams, as required by the role.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

SUPPORT EVIDENCE-BASED ADVOCACY AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead on drafting of key external and internal advocacy documents and position papers, including the organization’s Operational and Policy Updates, under supervision of the Advocacy & Access Coordinator
  • Support with facilitation and reporting on meetings in relevant advocacy- and policy platforms
  • Support with updating and implementation of the organization’s Advocacy Strategy, including leading on and monitoring of the implementation of longer-term advocacy objectives.
  • Support with identification of relevant advocacy initiatives and support with data collection to promote evidence-based advocacy and policy development for issues relevant for the wider humanitarian NGO response in Northeast Syria
  • Provide advice and support to sectoral advocacy initiatives
  • Stand in for Advocacy and Humanitarian Access Coordinator by representing the organization in various international platforms with various key stakeholders such as UN agencies and donors, when required.

 

ADVOCACY ENGAGEMENT WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES

  • Support advocacy engagement with local authorities on humanitarian advocacy and policy priorities.
  • Monitor and map local policy development impacting humanitarian operations in Northeast Syria

 

BUILD LOCAL ADVOCACY CAPACITY    

  • Identify local advocacy capacity building needs within the organization’s membership and other humanitarian actors operating in Northeast Syria
  • Organize and lead on provision of trainings to enhance local advocacy capacity, in close coordination with the organization’s Local Partnership and Liaison Coordinator
  • Engage with relevant global stakeholders who work on advocacy capacity building to explore opportunities for localization of advocacy capacity in Northeast Syria
  • Support local NGOs with advocacy efforts advancing the humanitarian situation and response and in Northeast Syria

 

General

  • Play a key role in coordination between the organization’s members, connecting key issues encountered across the humanitarian NGO response, to concrete and effective advocacy initiatives, as directed by the Advocacy and Access Coordinator.
  • Any other relevant tasks as requested by the Advocacy and Access Coordinator and NES Forum Director
