Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, community development, marketing, or a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in community engagement, social cohesion, or peacebuilding initiatives, with a focus on women’s inclusion and empowerment.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics and challenges faced by women in the market, and local community.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate dialogue and trust-building among diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and strategies for promoting peaceful coexistence.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity and local customs and traditions.
  • Good in written and spoken English.

Job Description:

  1. Objectives:

The Livelihoods Social Cohesion Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Self-Help Saving Group (SHG) project’s objectives of empowering women and promoting their financial independence within the community. by focusing on enhancing women’s livelihoods through promoting their micro-businesses, while also fostering social and market cohesion among the SHG members.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the LLH Officer in coordinating and implementing livelihoods-related capacity-building initiatives that foster social cohesion and market inclusion.
  • Develop and implement awareness campaigns and initiatives to promote the inclusion of IDP and resident women in local market activities, advocating for equal access to resources, services, and opportunities.
  • Foster social cohesion and inclusion among IDP and resident women within the SHG project by promoting dialogue, trust-building, and collaboration.
  • Organize community events, workshops, and activities that facilitate interaction, networking, and knowledge-sharing among SHG members and other stakeholders, with a focus on enhancing social and market cohesion.
  • Collaborate with local leaders, civil society organizations, market actors, and relevant institutions to ensure the inclusion and participation of IDP and resident women in broader community initiatives and market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with local leaders, civil society organizations, and market actors to identify potential market linkages, and market platforms that can benefit the Nano businesses of SHG members.
  • Organize market exposure visits to showcase the products and services of SHG members, providing them with opportunities to establish connections with potential buyers, suppliers, and partners
  • Facilitate discussions and group activities to encourage knowledge sharing and peer learning among SHG women.
  1. Other Required Tasks:
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders for materials, equipment, or services required for social and market cohesion activities.
  • Support the recruitment and training processes of new SHG members, ensuring their understanding of social and market cohesion principles and objectives.
  • Contribute to the documentation and archiving of attendance sheets, reports, and documents related to community events and social and market cohesion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the LLH Officer and other team members to ensure smooth coordination and integration of social and market cohesion activities within the broader SHG project framework.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating logistics for project-related workshops, meetings, and events.
  • Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Livelihoods Department.
