Job Requirements:

Technical abilities:

–           Previous experience in water quality aspects such as monitoring, testing, and treatment

–           Previous experience in implementing Water monitoring in urban setting, city, and Knowledge of Informal Settlement context is appreciated.

–           Prior INGO experience is highly desirable.

–           Skills in mobile data collection (kobo).

  • Processes a strong sense of rigor, organization, and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Arabic (Read-Write-Speak) is mandatory and water quality English vocabulary is desirable.

Job Description:

Implementation

  • Perform physical water quality tests at different locations / levels following SI guidance and protocols (Temperature, Conductivity, Turbidity, FRC etc.) in all targeted areas of SI programs; and collect water samples to bring back to SI Water Quality laboratory for further analysis.
  • Participate with Laboratory Officers in the bacteriological tests, results reading, analysis and data base filling following SI guidance and protocols.
  • Ensure the entry of data by using Kobo Collect tool, following training and guidance given by SI WaSH managers provided before the start of the activity, and send data daily.
  • Participate in analyzing and interpreting data collected during water quality tests to identify trends, patterns, and potential threats to the quality of water in the area.
  • When required, perform jar tests following standard protocols and/or other chlorination-related measurements.
  • Ensure the correct use, maintenance and calibration of his/her work tools on a regular basis.

Reporting/Communication

  • Report to the line manager on activity progress on a daily basis or when requested.
  • Report to the line manager any challenges encountered during working hours and during the implementation of the activities.
  • Anticipate and timely report to the line manager any shortage of water quality consumables/equipment used for daily tasks.
  • If needed, fill out a daily report/follow-up sheet with a template and information defined by WASH managers, that will include summarizing findings and suggested actions to improve water quality.
  • Maintain good relations with local participants and communities in the operational fields.
