Qualifications

Education: University degree in Social Sciences or other field relevant to development assistance.

Required Experience: At least two (2) years of postgraduate professional experience in implementing development programs, preferably in livelihoods. Experience in providing business skills training and livelihood grant management will be an asset.

Desired Experience: previous experience with Solidarities International (SI) in implementing similar tasks and duties.

Language: Working Knowledge of  Arabic (Required), English (Required)

Job Description:

Activities

  • Under the responsibility of the LS, take part in logistical and administrative organization, planning, and preparation of Livelihoods activities.
  • Implement activities using Solidarités International tools, in particular:

o        Take part in the data collection for needs assessment and contribute to identification of assessment needs through regular feedback and reporting on activities and the local context.

o        Take part in the census, registration and training of beneficiaries (small entrepreneurs, graduates from vocational training program, etc.).

o        Implement on-site livelihoods activities and distribution of cash grants.

o        Upon request, contribute to the design of tools for assessment, beneficiaries’ selection, sensitization and communication with beneficiaries, monitoring, etc.

o        Contribute to the selection of beneficiaries as per agreed criteria.

o        Facilitate the business skills training; this includes but does not limit to: organizing the training groups, printing all related documents, gathering and replacing materials used, providing business training skills when needed.

o        Using the appropriate tools, participating in the regular monitoring/evaluation visits to the grant’s beneficiaries after each instalment to ensure adequate implementation of the business plan and provide technical advice as needed.

o        Support other activities undertaken by the cash and livelihoods department upon need and request.

  • After activities have taken place, calculate and confirm the number of persons which benefited from them and effectively participated in them.
  • Take an active part in activities improvement and lesson learnt workshops and exercises.
  • Take into account Do No Harm and Protection mainstreaming principles in the design, implementation and monitoring of all SI activities, including identify possible related-risks and enforce mitigation measures under the supervision of his/her LS.
  • Respect Solidarités International’s administrative procedures before, during, and after activities.

Reporting/Communication

  • Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the Solidarités International office, ensuring their availability to his/her supervisor.
  • Archive necessary documents (presence list, schedules, distribution lists, etc.).
  • Collect and archive activities implementation photos and beneficiaries’ testimonies/case studies following Solidarites International rules and procedures.
  • Under the supervision of the LS, participate in the drafting of reports:

o        Pass on any information regarding the processes;

o        Extract and pass on statistics to the Deputy Program Manager and Program Manager;

o        Fill in some sections of the reports upon request.

  • Take part in seminars and training workshops relating to livelihood tasks and to goal attainment;
  • Report to the LS on the progress of activities and specific tasks assigned, problems encountered, the quality of relations with beneficiaries/partners.
  • Pass on any information or problems concerning his/her task, Solidarités International programs, or safety aspects
  • Act as a liaison with the local population and authorities in order to identify the needs, grievances and major events that could have potential consequences for Solidarités International activity;
  • Analyse the humanitarian situation, taking protection problems into consideration/Do no Harm to the population;
  • Collaborate with local administration and authorities;
  • Take part in restitution meetings on request.
