Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or university degree or other advanced technical qualifications.
  • Approximately 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience preferably in Security / Humanitarian Access
  • Previous experience in an emergency or conflict-afflicted setting is required.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of local financial institutions
  • Experience working in a field-based environment supporting relief programmers, or working with local communities aiding vulnerable families
  • Understanding of the non-partisan status of an international NGO
  • Good communication, numeric and strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing programmers through Cash or Voucher Based Programming
  • Should be computer literate with a good sense of attention to detail
  • Ability to think independently and problem solve.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Honest, hardworking, and committed to community development

Job Description:

The Humanitarian Access Assistant will be in Raqqa to support the Access team in obtaining permissions, staff Access issues and administrative support in Access documents

The Humanitarian Access Assistant (HAA) supports the safe, effective, and efficient access to and by people in need for humanitarian assistance, in line with humanitarian principles, through information and procedure management, direct support to staff, negotiation and liaison, and monitoring. The Humanitarian Access Assistant (HAA) works closely with safety and security and community liaison colleagues, as well as with programs and operations staff, to ensure people have the information they need to manage operations, to identify issues, and to recommend and implement measures to reduce them.

Responsibilities:

  • The Humanitarian Assistant will be working with the Humanitarian Access and Security Officer for managing relationships with community relief structures as well as helping to identify possible beneficiary population
  • Liaise with local relief committee members in all areas of operations
  • Facilitate and attends community meetings
  • Plans and carries out community acceptance events
  • Plans and facilitates focus group discussions and other information gathering sessions with connectors and dividers in the community
  • Document lessons learned and success stories on the project
  • Support the programs with engaging with authorities
  • Identify programmatic challenges and work with the HAS officer to find relevant solutions
  • Engage with the Humanitarian Affairs Office (HAO) to facilitate the activities for Programs and work on permissions for the Program activities.
  • Conduct focus group discussion and other information gathering sessions with IRC Female staff to identify their gender-related requirement and challenges in all IRC location in NES
  • Administrative activities for Access department
  • Managing security guards in Raqqa
  • Other duties as assigned
