 Child Safeguarding Assistant

Location: NES – Hasakah

 

The Opportunity:

CSG Training / Refresher facilitation 

  • Facilitate designed training/ refreshers on CSG policy to new staff to enable staff with key responsibilities to undertake their roles and mainstream safeguarding functions in Hassakeh Office and CSG Focal point at CAMP and Community as per the agreed plan.
  • Facilitate CSG Risk Assessment training CSG focal Points and programme assistant at the implementation.
  • Support partner focal points in order to improve Child Safeguarding practice, building good relationships with them and staying on contact with them.
  • He/she will work with CSG Team of NES to contribute in the revision/ development of diffident training packages and module on CSG for diffident audiences.

 

Record keeping of CSG and related documentations.

  • Collect information from NES CSG team and Focal points about different CST Training/ Refreshers in line with the agreed training plan and update relevant trackers (Staff CSG Training tracker, Visits Tracker, Focal Point tracker etc.)
  • Ensure all staff and update training trackers for the staff, Incentive Woker , organising and filing all training attendance sheets.

Support CSG team in monitoring of CSG compliance at implementation

  • Carry out CSG monitoring visit to Camps and Community and meet staff working on the field to listen to challenges and identify potential risks to children in project activities as per agreed monthly plan and report compliance issue to CSG Coordinator (using the CSG monitoring form);
  • Follow up with respective focal points/ programme persons on the CSG Risk mitigation plan agreed from the assessment; including finding in the visit report and share the same with CSG Coordinator.
  • Facilitate FGD with CSG focal point at Camp and community to identify risks and concerns and channel support to them from NES CSG team as per agreed.
  • Prepare monthly/periodic report covering overall CSG initiatives, concerns and actions for the assigned offices.

Support to CSG investigation and CSG orientation to support services vendors/suppliers

  • Where appropriate, personally undertaking Child Safeguarding investigations receiving and recording reports, sometimes in challenging environments and to rigorous timescales and standards.
  • Organize and prepare all needed for CSG trainings, workshops and meetings in coordination with Admin/HR, Logs and other linked departments.

  • Other tasks as required.

 

 

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

Essential

  • Bachelor degree with one to two years’ experience in full time similar role in child safeguarding; or in child protection, or case management in humanitarian setting, preferably with an INGO
  • Experience in working with vulnerable communities and children in CAMP and/or community
  • Experience of planning and facilitating training programmes/workshops in child protection /safeguarding with volunteer/ incentive worker/ staff members etc.
  • Good report writing skills in English and Arabic language
  • Fluent in speaking Kurdish/ Arabic with good spoken skills in English
  • Demonstrable commitment to Children’s Rights
  • Willing to travel and work within challenging environments
  • Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses and evidence of commitment to self-managed personal development
  • Good computer skills including MS Office application i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, emails etc.

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge on Core Humanitarian Standards, PSEA and Anti-harassment

Knowledge and experience in developing training module preferably on CSG/ protection issues
