Job Title: Protection Technical Officer

Job Requirements:

Generic professional competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years working as a Protection Officer, preferably with an INGO, NGO
  • Knowledge and experience within a relevant field and ideally a relevant Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree or above qualification
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities is preferred.
  • Fluency in Arabic, both written and verbal;
  • Very good command in written and verbal English.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelor degree is preferable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills especially MS Excel and Word
  • Quick starter, ability to work in a past paced work environment
  • Training or prior achievements in protection will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of the context in Syria;
  • Ability to work independently in a result-oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural environment
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • High integrity and confidentiality. Stress and time management.

Job Description:

  • Provide day-to-day support to ORG field staff and non-staff when encountering protection issues and oversee the referrals process where needed.
  • Support ORG field staff efforts in needs assessments, consultations and monitoring of activities to ensure capturing of protection risks.
  • Support teams on safe-programming throughout programmes’ activities
  • Prepare regular reports on protection issues observed directly or by other teams in the field
  • Support the capacity building trainings of ORG field staff on protection themes by conducting in-house training or bringing in external expertise (i.e. e-courses, other specialised organisations).
  • Represent ORG in relevant field coordination fora (e.g. Protection for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Networks, Protection Working Groups) and share information regularly within Area Office and with Country Office protection team.
  • Oversee protection and advocacy related data collection activities, including management of enumerator teams.
  • Any other reasonable task as instructed by line-manager.
