Job Requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in psychology, sociology, humanity sciences and mental health.
  • Work Experience: Two- three years’ experience with providing trainings on GBV case management and GBV Core concepts as well as facilitation of TOT related trainings
  • Experience in related program, preferably working with conflict-affected women and girls with a focus on GBV prevention and women focused programming.
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of GBV and Gender cultural specific issues and previous training and experience in these Good areas strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated belief in gender equality and enthusiastic commitment to the safety and empowerment of women and girls
  • Comfortable speaking about sensitive topics in an honest, professional, and thoughtful manner
  • Excellent communication skills and confident interpersonal interaction
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times
  • computer skills (Microsoft programs, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic and very good English (written, spoken).

Job Description:

As part of its Syria response the Organization is expanding its programs to support women and girls throughout Al-Hasakeh , Deir ez zor and  Ar-Raqqa governorates in Syria. The Organization under the Women’s Protection and Empowerment sector provides psycho social and GBV case management services to Syrian and Iraqi women and girls throughout northeast Syria, and currently runs dedicated Women and Girl’s Safe Spaces (WGSS) in camp and urban locations, as well as delivers services from Integrated protection teams to meet the needs of displaced, refugee and Syrian host community women and girls, including survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).This position will be directly supported by the WPE Manager. The WPE Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for overseeing the capacity building needs of Organization WPE staff related to GBV case management, GBV Core concepts and Gender mainstreaming in addition they will be responsible for training internal and external organization staff on GBV core concepts and gender mainstreaming, as well as other topics as requested by the supervisor.

Major Responsibilities:

Training topic delivery

  • To develop internal capacity building and training plans for Organization WPE staff  with close consultation with the WPE Manager and Senior Manager.
  • In cooperation with the WPE Programme Manager, Senior WPE Programme Officers and the IM Officer, identify the training needs for the case management team as reported through feedback received from client satisfaction reports and outcome surveys;
  • Identify capacity needs of WPE local partners on GBV Prevention and response and design capacity building plan and the delivery of those trainings proactively consulting with the WPE Senior Manager and WPE Managers
  • Ensure Monitoring and Evaluation reports are read and discussed with the aforementioned programmatic staff, and areas where improvement is needed is fed into capacity building plans for social workers; capacity building and training plans should be informed through feedback from officer-level staff
  • On a quarterly basis share a capacity building and training schedule, with WPE Senior and Officer level staff to allow for advance activity and staff planning;
  • Inform Organization programme and operational staff of any delays or expected cancellations with advance warning of at least two weeks
  • Prepare training reports and feedback to include in planned refreshers and improve program quality

Administrative preparation and post-training duties

  • In coordination with the Senior WPE Manager, Managers and Senior Officers, ensure the integration and coordination of training activity plans to avoid overlap and support a holistic training programme for internal Organization protection staff When organizing trainings for external organizations
  • Ensure that invitations for trainings are sent out at least a week in advance with participant lists, agenda and logistical arrangement information included;
  • Based on training and capacity building plans produced, add in the lists of needed supplies and items including for venue and refreshments, into programme procurement plans. Make sure to attend procurement plan review meetings with programme and operational staff on a monthly basis;
  • Check in with programme administrative assistants via the Admin Officer to ensure PRs are followed up on;
  • The humanitarian access tracker will be updated by the Senior Protection Capacity Building and Mainstreaming Officer, on a weekly basis, and based on the training plan sent;
  • Ensure the preparation of all training handouts and resources for trainings as needed;
  • Continually review content and examples provided in trainings to ensure training sessions are improved upon according to post-training evaluation feedback
  • Make sure, with support from the WPE Senior Manager and WPE Managers that training materials and new resources produced are documented within a ‘training manual’ which outlines instructions for delivery of the training;
  • Ensure pre-and post-tests, and training evaluations are documented, analyzed and sent to training participant supervisors;

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Keep and update training tracker for participant numbers, sex, locations and displacement status, to be used for donor reporting;
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor and submit a brief weekly bullet point email to your supervisor to ensure they keep abreast of your activities;
