Education / Experience Needed

  • University degree (Bachelor) in Social Studies, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or similar
  • In-depth knowledge and critical understanding of the local socio-political and economic context
  • 2-3 years of working experience with an NGO, international organization

LANGUAGE

Arabic, English and Kurdish are required.

 REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

Job Description:

Job Summary

The Livelihoods Program Officer will implement Apprenticeship as well as Psychosocial Support/Healing Wounds of Trauma sessions for our organization’s program beneficiaries and their households. S/he will be responsible to identify the most vulnerable people and make services available to them following the standards and guidelines of our organization.

Job Duties:

Project Implementation

  • Participate in project activities planning, field assessments, and beneficiary identification and registration processes.
  • Ensure local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders are informed about urban livelihoods activities
  • Mobilize beneficiaries for apprenticeship training opportunities and facilitate career guidance sessions prior to submission of applications
  • Participate in Pre-screening and selection of applications for apprenticeships and update beneficiary’s database
  • Facilitate Induction/orientation sessions for selected beneficiaries and assignment of apprentices to the business owners
  • Facilitate Apprenticeship Providers/Business owners to develop training outlines/training plans for the selected Apprentice/vocational trainees
  • Conduct Life /soft skills training and ensure biblical values, principles are integrated into pieces of training for Apprentices
  • Conduct weekly and monthly monitoring of apprenticeship training sessions
  • Prepare documents needed for monthly stipends for Apprentices and Business Owners’ training fees
  • Contribute to project procurement processes including graduate kits that are provided timely to successful Apprentices

Psychosocial support/Healing Wounds of Trauma

  • Serve staff and beneficiaries with creativity, kindness, and generosity.
  • Call, organize and complete home visits and follow up with beneficiaries
  • Organize and teach trauma-healing classes, and support psychosocial groups as needed.
  • Help plan, organize, and carry out community events that bring hope and joy to beneficiary families.
  • Identify major stressors affecting people and households supported by the organization program in NE Syria
  • Identify psychosocial needs in individuals/Households served by the program and recruit those who will benefit from the participation in a healing group using the Healing Wounds of Trauma curriculum.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of the Healing Wounds of Trauma course to individuals/ households identified to be in need of psychosocial support in collaboration with organization-certified facilitators of the Healing Wounds of Trauma course.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Assessment

  • Support the FSL Coordinator in ensuring effective and timely reporting of all activities (monthly and weekly reports, budget follow-up).
  • In collaboration with the FSL Coordinator and M&E officer, participate in assessments and surveys as planned/needed in order to evaluate the needs, and design activity plans according to the areas of intervention.
  • With the support of the M&E officer and FSL coordinator, contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the activities, and adapt the response accordingly.
  • Participate in Tracer /post-training follow up studies for Apprentice graduates 6 months after completion of the course
  • Report to the FSL Coordinator on daily basis and participate in general reporting (internal and external).

Representation and Communication

  • In collaboration with the FSL coordinator, work closely with community leaders, and partners, particularly organizations that are working in the livelihood thematic, for close coordination with stakeholders in this field.
  • Report any problems encountered in the field, such as project participant/stakeholder complaints, to the FSL Coordinator.
  • Follow-up on administrative and logistics matters related directly to activities: timesheets, payment schedules, required paperwork, liaison with other departments, etc.
  • Upon request by the FSL Coordinator, translate official documents and project communication materials
  • Be flexible and motivated to perform tasks other than the above, in line with requests from the FSL Coordinator.
