Job Requirements:

  • University degree in psychology, social work, pedagogy, social sciences or another relevant field.
  • Minimum one-year experience working with an INGO or LNGO.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in protection, GBV/WPE, child protection, case management other related area with a minimum of 6 months’ work experience with NGOs.
  • Commitment to and understanding of core values and principles.

  • Excellent reporting and data management skills.

Job Description:

The Social Worker (SW) is responsible to implement referral services in Al-Hassakeh governorate. S/he makes sure that the quality of the work done is in regards of mandate, commitments and international standards. He/she will finally ensure protection and gender are mainstreamed during the projects’ activities implementation.

Note: The project is pending donor approval and the position being filled is subject to project approval.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure understanding of referrals among targeted communities and conduct, in coordination with hygiene promotion workers information sharing about possible referral services in target communities
  • Support the WEE Program Officer in identifying groups the most at-risk of GBV and protection concerns. Under the supervision of the PO, participate in the conduction of needs assessment and advice colleagues on safe interview technics.
  • Ensure protection risks (especially the ones related to GBV) are continuously monitored in a safe, organized and ethical way and prepare regular reports for the line manager.
  • Ensure data related to referrals are managed in a safe and ethical way; respecting Data Protection policy, case management SOPs, IM system and principles.
  • Identify women and girls GBV survivors in need as well as persons at-heightened risks in need to be referred to entry points.
  • Work closely with staff and volunteers (including other programs) and receive internal referrals. Provide guidance on safe and ethical identification of persons at-heightened risks.
  • Conduct if needed and regularly update service mapping and participate to the development/strengthening of protection and GBV referral pathways.
  • Coordinate referrals of GBV survivors to service providers and ensure appropriate assistance is delivered.
  • Maximize referral of persons at-heightened risks and GBV survivors to other programs and services and contribute to strengthen internal referral pathway.
  • Maintain liaison with the local government officials, other I/NGO’s and community-based organization’s (CBO) at the community level to ensure their cooperation and coordination for effective implementation of the program in the areas.
  • Represent on local exercises in his/her geographic area of responsibility.
  • In general, make sure that a positive and professional image of is conveyed. In particular, ensure that mandate, thematic policies, ethics, values and views are followed in relation to third parties
  • Under the supervision of the PO ensure proper record keeping of cases, ensuring confidentiality of data (including soft and hard data).
  • Collect data on a regularly basis and regularly update individual monitoring files of the Program beneficiaries.
  • Keep proper records of expenditures and report on these to the line manager.
  • Participate in the management of the program’s activities, according to the strategies for reaching the objectives.
  • Identify the problems associated with the delivery of the program and inform line manager, HR, logistics, beneficiaries in accordance to line manager’s orientations. Develop common priority actions leading to solutions to the identified problems.
  • Attend and take part in the meetings necessary for passing on information for the smooth running of activities.
  • Help his/her line manager in setting up the activities schedule every week.
  • Attend relevant trainings on Protection, GBV, Case Management others when requested.
  • Use programme resources effectively and with care, and mobilize local resources wherever possible. Facilitate mobilization of local resources and encourage maximum use of them.
  • Contribute to the design of specific in-kind material assistance for GBV survivors and be responsible for the transportation of cases to service providers when needed.
  • Contribute to the development of procurement plans and raise purchase requests when required.
  • Bring special attention to risks of fraud and corruption and ensure CARE’s whistleblowing policy and mechanisms are disseminated and understood by the team.
  • Submit weekly movement plans according to the program priorities and weekly plan.
  • Report without delay any security issue / incident to the S&S focal point and the line manager and ensure security of the staff on the field.
  • Ensure understanding of and compliance to PSEA and Child Safeguarding policies and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure affected populations are fully aware about PSEA and CS policies and know how to report in a safe and confidential way.
  • Support PSEA survivors with life-saving assistance and further reporting.
