Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Journalism, Business, Economics, Social sciences, Engineering or another relevant field

  • Fluent in Arabic language
  • Experience with a local or International NGO is a plus
  • Experience in working in multi-cultural environments is a plus
  • Exposure to northeast Syria programming a plus
  • Minimum one-year experience working with an INGO or LNGO.
  • At least 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience in community mobilization and awareness, in kind or grant distribution
  • High level of creativity in creating social messages (text, image video etc.)
  • Previous experience in working in Gender, Age, and Disability or Hygiene related issues would be an advantage
  • Ability to work in unstable, uncertain or potentially dangerous environments, independently and in a team
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Good reporting and data management skills.
  • Strong coordination capacity and excellent interpersonal communication skills. m. Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent skills MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English, Kurdish will be an asset.

Job Description:

The Community awareness and Hygiene promotion worker will work under the direction and supervision of the Women’s Empowerment and Community Engagement Program Officer.  S/he will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the community awareness and hygiene promotion activities conducted by PERSEVERE Programme. S/he will need to regularly implement and communicate with community awareness and hygiene promotion teams in order to ensure the effective, day-to-day implementation of community awareness and hygiene promotion activities in the selected project locations.

Note: The project is pending donor approval and the position being filled is subject to project approval.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of hygiene promotion and GAD awareness raising activities to ensure all activities reflect the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. women, elderly people, children, and people with disabilities.
  • Support in developing the registration tools and contribute directly to the registration of the beneficiaries to a database.
  • Support in developing and updating awareness sessions delivery plan on regular basis.
  • Organize and carry out daily hygiene promotion and GAD awareness raising activities in the targeted area in line with agreed work plans, strategies and methodologies.
  • Participate in the development of information, education and communication (IEC) materials relevant to the context; with appreciation of cultural norms and beliefs.
  • With coordination with community leaders/Comin’s representative, communicate with participants regarding the session’s dates and locations.
  • Communicate with local community and identifying community groups who can get benefits from the session and add value to the project’s goals.
  • Assist in organizing visits, meeting, events, trainings and workshop and participate as needed.
  • Documenting attendance sheets, participant’s feedback, photos etc.
  • Conduct and carryout NFI WASH martials distribution including hygiene kits, distribution of hygiene promotion materials, latrine cleaning materials.
  • Taking into account the diversity of society and the necessity of the principle of gender equality and the implementation of activities in a way that reflects the needs of groups and individuals such as women, elderly, children and the disabled.
  • Collect and organize information on progress of all aspects of hygiene promotion and GAD awareness raising activities ensuring information is disaggregated by gender and age (men, women, boys and girls).
  • Monitor and evaluate the participation, ownership and inclusiveness of community members in decision-making regarding gender, age and disability inclusion in livelihoods
  • Monitor and evaluate the participation, ownership and inclusiveness of community members in decision-making water, sanitation, hygiene awareness and evaluation of activities related to the project.
  • Conduct pre and post monitoring tools including post and pre/post tests and other tools as required.
  • Participate in the development of monitoring tools for hygiene promotion activities as required.
  • Assist Women’s Empowerment and Community Engagement Program Officering compiling need assessments data, organizing data files and pictures, tracking sheets and improving IEC material.
  • Collect and organize information on progress of all aspects of hygiene promotion and GAD awareness activities ensuring information is disaggregated by gender and age (men, women, boys and girls).
  • Support the documentation related to hygiene promotion, GAD awareness activities and distributions, including reviewing beneficiary lists, and post distribution monitoring reports, as needed.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports as requested by Women’s Empowerment and Community Engagement Program Officer.
  • • Coordinate referral of persons at-heightened risks and GBV survivors to other programs and services and contribute to strengthen internal referral pathway.
  • In collaboration with the PERSEVERE team and MEAL team, monitor the impact of the program activities on the beneficiaries
  • Fully participate in any learning reviews, ensuring that final recommendations are shared with the relevant team members and eventually incorporated into program activities
  • Provide regular updates to Women’s Empowerment and Community Engagement Program Officer and team on progress, priorities and constraints, both verbally and in written form
  • Represent on local exercises in his/her geographic area of responsibility.
  • In general, make sure that a positive and professional image of is conveyed. In particular, ensure that mandate, thematic policies, ethics, values and views are followed in relation to third parties
  • Coordinate with all teams to identify and implement integrated response when applicable.
  • Use Programme resources effectively and with care, and mobilize local resources wherever possible. Facilitate mobilization of local resources and encourage maximum use of them.
  • Contribute to Identification of non-food hygiene-related needs, participation in element selection and distribution.
  • Bring special attention to risks of fraud and corruption and ensure whistleblowing policy and mechanisms are disseminated and understood by the team.
  • Submit weekly movement plans according to the program priorities and weekly plan.
  • Report without delay any security issue / incident to the S&S focal point and the line manager and ensure security of the staff on the field.
  • Gathering all invoices for women led businesses and ensure the grant been spent according to the agreement.
