Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, development studies, business administration.
  • Previous experience in livelihoods projects to support women empowerment, or community development programs.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural sensitivities.

Job Description:

  1. Objectives

The Livelihoods Assistant will work closely with the Livelihoods (LLH) Senior Officer to support the implementation of the Self-Help Saving Group (SHG) project. The project aims to empower women and promote their financial independence through the formation and management of self-help saving groups. The SHG Project Assistant will provide technical and logistical support to ensure the smooth functioning of the SHGs and will report to the LLH Officer.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular field visits to self-help saving groups to assess their needs, challenges, and progress, and provide on-site support and guidance as required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of SHG activities, including meeting minutes, attendance registers, and financial transactions.
  • Support the LLH Officer in preparing regular reports on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating meetings, workshops, and training sessions for self-help saving groups, including venue arrangements, participant communications, and logistical preparations.
  • Prepare necessary materials and resources for the meetings and workshops.
  • Collecting, compiling, and organizing data related to SHG activities, including savings balances, loan repayments, and member profiles.
  • Support the LLH Officer in data entry, verification, and analysis.
  • Support effective communication and coordination with self-help group members.
  • organizing and facilitating capacity-building workshops for self-help group members on topics such as financial literacy, savings management, and entrepreneurship.
  • Provide support in preparing training materials and coordinating logistics for the workshops.
  1. Other Required Tasks:
  • Assist in the identification and selection of potential income-generating activities suitable for the SHG members, considering market demand and local resources.
  • Provide guidance and support to individual group members in developing their personal financial plans and strategies for achieving their financial goals.
  • Assist in conducting community awareness campaigns to promote the importance of women’s empowerment, and the benefits of participating in self-help saving groups.
  • Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Livelihoods Department.
